in Romania we used/and still eat horses in certain situations. But today when there are not too many horses around,it is quite rare. I ate horse last time in 2004 when my dad had to slaughter a Mura horse mare who got her leg broken by another mare who was in heat and dad wanted as payment for the service a hind leg. My dad made pork/horse salami,sausage and we used some of the meat to cook as sarmale(mixed with pork) which is a popular dish in Romania.
