This guy is a trip. He is easily the worst explainer I have ever heard. Literally every explanation I have ever heard him give clears nothing up whatsoever. I gotta think he is doing it on purpose at this point.
What a pretentious piece of shit. A gauge symmetry is simply the symmetry within a theory, like electromagnetism, that makes it invariant under a choice of measurement units. For example, the functional predictions of electrostatics would not change if we decided to measure all voltages not from 0 V but from some arbitrary 100 V.
