Nerd here: I'd be really interested in work looking into the trade-off between competence and physical damage incurred through fighting. Obviously, like in weightlifting or long-distance running, if you're seeking to preserve your long-term health (i.e. same life-expectancy as the average, or greater) you can't maximise fitness to compete with champions, but I'd bet there's an analogous 80-20 effect at play (20% of the damage, 80% of the benefit) if you're just a regular person that wants to become competent in fighting. they should do the body fat and hydration test that they do for wrestling so they can still cut but only down to certain amount
I honestly once considered mma as a profession but I was naive then. I would love to hear more about the dark side of the sport to get a fuller perspective, all I see is the glory of the UFC
I cant agree more Khabib had a seizures bc of cutting weight for his and conners fight
I do agree in more weight classes but I think people would just manipulate body weight to hold more then one title at once.
