Jimmy, at age 7 I caught (missed) a fly-pop baseball on my nose and deviated my septum. I had sinus and breathing issues until I had a septo/rhinoplasty thirty years later. You mentioned you had surgery for your deviated septum; I suggest a second exam/possibly surgery to fix it.
Even if the first guy (ear, nose, throat/ENT physician) made any mistakes, I doubt subsequent doctors that examine you would admit to those errors for fear of being sued or contributing to the first doctor getting sued. The pain and healing time is worth going through to be able to breath and sleep.
