Lol he gets charged by a bear with in the next year. Totally jinx himself in the beginning
When I got my first whitetail deer i got so excited I puked. My dad had to gut it, while I walked back to camp to drop off our gear. When I got my first buck I hollered "WoooHooo!" I had tracked him for three days and found him in his territory. I felt like a total predator. I found sign, followed tracks, found a scrape and two rubs, tracked some more to find its bedding area. On the second day I called him in from afar only to have him smell me. This is when I saw he was a giant 8 point. The next day I trailed where I knew he travelled, set up where I had run into him the night before. I called him in with a bleat can after hearing some crashing in the leaves and brush about 100 yards away. Had him about 70 yards away and watched him wonder around. Called once to stop him. And shot him with a CVA Wolf, 45cal muzzleloader. Was absolutely the best hunt of my life, so far! As I type this his taxidermied shoulder mount is above me on the wall. I am in no way 'Bubba' who runs around yelling and drinking beer while hunting. I am an avid student of the woods and its wildlife. And absolutely love being outdoors, not just the hunt. It is truly important for us as a society today to Unplug and go wonder out in the sticks, as Joe says.

Before I never really hunted I went with somebody who wanted to hunt but wasn't very good. We ended up camping overnight and folding a tarp into a pup tent with the fire pit at our feet about a foot away. In the middle of the night I felt something smack my foot because it just had a blanketand I immediately woke up and looked down and saw the back end of a mountain lion walking in between our fire and tent. my buddy's gun was on his side so I woke him up and he shot around into the ground and you could hear it bound off through the woods. The second time mushroom hunting along a logging trail another friend and I walked up on a mountain lion sitting on a deer it had killed recently and pulled it under some low pine bows at the base of the tree. We were just walking and talking then a loud and long growl from like four feet away scared the shit out of us. We just backed up yelling cat cat cat to the others in the woods and everyone left safely. Two mountain lion accounts. One touched me, probably smelled us. It was big maybe three feet long or less lol.
