I'm no expert but from the protestor's point of view they are tired of the mainstream media telling lies (eg. it's all over oil prices), the increasing division in class (working class struggling to get by) and ignorance of Macron. There's also plenty of videos of the police rounding up protestors, blocking them in and pepper spraying them, firing something that injures protestors (couldn't see exactly what they were firing) and plenty of smoke bombs. It looks pretty bad and the police don't seem very tactical, more like they are enjoying getting to use the weapons if anything. Check it all out for yourself of course!
