It all comes down to voluntary or mandatory. Among all the arguments out there I think the simplest one that rings true is this. If you want to be a celibate priest, be one. If you want to be a married priest, be one. But mandating celibacy has put many people into a situation where they think they know what they're getting into when in reality they probably don't. Often times being strongly pressured even coerced into the priesthood at a young age, and some likely having buyer's remorse so to speak once they've said their vows. And then faced what the option of committing a sin by breaking their vows, when if it had just been left open, they could have freely chosen.
I think taking after the example of Paul is wise and allows them to better attend to the needs of the parish
