The singularity as envisioned is an impossibility based on pathological American optimism. Machines are just machines. They will never think for themselves. Humans anthropomorphize everything from hammers to cars. With the current computer hardware, we can only improve on existing designs. In order for the advancement being discussed to occur, there needs to be a complete overhaul in computer engineering and science. Don't worry about the singularity. Worry about what the people who are trying to convince you that it's a thing intend to do with their machines. They are going to try to blame Ai for their irresponsible use of it to shirk responsibility for their actions.

You can’t have a decimal of the number 1. Otherwise you would be going from 0 to infinite as there are infinite parts of 1 in our math. 1 is a singularity and for it to be a singularity there must only be a singular part.
