I genuinely wonder how much of Joe's agitation is the fact that the two of them are exactly the same age?
I wasn't sure if I would like Dr. Ben Goertzel the first time I saw him. It had nothing to do with his individualistic style which is to me quite thankfully lacking the banality of typical conformity, or uniformity, but rather due to skepticism as to a potential ulterior motive, knowing the goals for humanity of some of those who might be interested in funding this sort of work.
After listening to him speak multiple times, I have found he has a very sharp wit and enjoyable sense of humor, and seems like a very thoughtful, reflective, caring, philosophical and morally upstanding man. Any such humanoid is most certainly okay in my book, and I imagine we would have a most enjoyable conversation were I to chance upon one.
