  1. I am really into "Alice in Chains" dude. Major league obsession high or not. It's better when your high on THC not hard drugs man. Thumbs down on hard narcotics.

They are so damn great. I wish I could sing in that band. Some of the other guys are still around and most of all Jerry Cantrell is still out there sounding great. To get someone who will do what Layne Staley was doing on stage will be close to impossible. Mike Starr was a part of Layne and it was a different time, but this band can come back if a special singer can make that range and be powerful for this music.

Layne's voice was really something. He was so banged up from opioid addiction, but his vocals were special. Layne Staley was one of the big losses in Rock in Roll history. Like Jim Morrison or Janis Joplin. I loved that guy.

Someone who is wild enough to stand next to Jerry Cantrell and belt out those songs. They might need an older singer who is able to express that music. The young kid didn't work. Vietnam and the dark topics covered in this music has to be belted out by a guy in his 50's. Someone who knows pain. Who could do something with Jerry that was good and harken back to Layne's talent? Who's that guy? I'll tell you now, Jerry Cantrell sounds awesome. It was like listening to any of the greats that are around play. Jerry has a strum that is unique. He's lost nothing. I'm so obsessed with "Alice in Chains" and their body of work. "Rooster" video about Vietnam grabbed me and plugged me into all the Vietnam War stories I know. It connected me in an artistic way. Very satisfying as an academic. I am a major fan now. I'm a Vietnam War historian so that song blows me away every time I hear it. Their music has brought me to tears.

Oh yeah, when I'm really high, I get very deep with everything. "Rooster" had me in thoughts of all the war films I have seen, meanwhile the "Rooster" video flashes little moments of the Vietnam War footage and audio. I am familiar with every scene that flashed in that video and I can explain how it really was. I know how each scene that flashed and how it relates to the whole thing top to bottom. I like music with meaning and "Alice in Chains" is that band right now for me. totally into it.

  2. You’re gonna laugh…I’m into Zeppelin, Sabbath, you know the greats.

BUT once, got wasted on pot and heard “You Make Lovin Fun” by Fleetwood Mac.

The sound recording was so spectacular that not only was it surround sound but the drums sounded like they were below me; the bass was above me, the vocals around in all directions.

Was crazy amazing to listen to. Each layer of sound or track was in its own special spot. What sound!!!
