Dude I had a girlfriend that had a couple pet rats. I am sure most people can imagine that i wasn't exactly pleased with the idea of playing with them. I ended up finding out she liked to play with them on her bed on top of this cool pet-proof blanket so they didn't use the bathroom on her blankets (I was NOT having it). Well.. she was really good in bed so naturally she wore me down. I fell in love with them as pets after adopting 2 babies from a liter one of her rats had. They were incredible pets. You would never believe how intelligent they are even emotionally. Studies have been done that showed they will actually share food when there is a shortage (only enough for one). They even enjoy rough-and-tumble play (childhood wrestling is the human equivalent). They actually like it so much that a rat that is larger and more physically dominant will allow smaller rats to dominate them (win the play wrestling game). The rats actually realize that if they don't let the smaller rat win 30% – 40% of the time then the smaller rat wont want to play anymore… Oh and I had a pet tree squirrel as a kid named "squirmy". Those are some incredibly territorial and protective animals. He had such a strong bond with my dad that my mom would have to call him to come home from work because if she got home before my dad our squirrel wouldn't let her lay in bed until he was there. It was pretty cool as a kid because if my friends tried to pick up the PS2 controller while I was out of the room he would pounce on them XD XD XD ;D
