I’m in my 30’s and I’ve been in construction for 10 years. I like being outside, and the pay is good these days. I gotta say, Joe is right about the type of people in construction, especially in the days he was working. My first job was a company that did full water, sewer and asphalt replacement in old neighbourhoods. The old man that ran the place, and the paving foreman were just the most drunk, hypocritical, miserable old men I had ever met. That generation has for the most part disappeared now, and it’s now directionless but hopeful Gen X and Millennial men. The blue collar, no college jobs our fathers did are gone.
