The angle of the joke is people using their victimhood as a form of expertise. Just because the angle he tested was offensive or dark doesn’t mean that the angle for a joke wasn’t there. I don’t think it was a blanket statement with intention to harm
it's almost as if the comedians' community wants to stand up for louis c.k. but still, they don't want to full-on embrace the thing so they all go like: it was a joke, he's paid the price, he must be allowed to perform, BUT IT WASN'T GOOD, IT WAS A WORK IN PROGRESS… now, i don't know the process of writing comedy, but to me the whole set seemed great, and the joke in particular was good and made me laugh. the feeling i get is that the whole politically correctness moment is moving towards its final stages fortunately, but still, people are afraid to speak their minds sometimes.
