  1. People often think being a parent requires being of average or higher intelligence. In my opinion, even if you’re not the brightest, you can still be the best parent ever. It obviously requires a baseline level of awareness and attention, but I think it’s more about making choices that might not benefit you directly, but will benefit the child in the long run. A certain amount of selflessness basically. Along with the ability to be patient, and the capacity to give love. Also dealing with your own shit before having kids, and passing it on as little as possible

  2. Having children is a blessing, but also very challenging. You have to think about someone else first, and if you can’t do that, don’t have them. My two grown children are the best things in life that ever happened to me. Ever. However, I did a lot of therapy and read many books in order to learn about myself and NOT carry over the generational BS that I was raised with.
