The people who got fired weren't firefighters, they were from some kind of private cleanup company. They were doing things like mocking a charred cat they found within the rubble of someone's former home. Imagine if you lost everything and your entire town was wiped off the face of the Earth, and on top of it all you know your pets burned alive in the midst of it. Then these assholes come in and start posting pictures of your pet's body online, smiling and joking about it. Pets are like members of the family, and a lot of people who died were returning to save their animals. Even playing on children's toys or burnt out vehicles is so incredibly inappropriate. Imagine if the 9/11 cleanup crew got caught using a charred child's toy as a prop, and thought it was funny to post online. It would be absolutely outrageous if these people weren't fired.
I'm a botanist.. Wildfires are natural. You can't live in forest areas without maintaining the land. The liberals won't like it. But, California needs to do what the Natives used to do to, controlled burns of huge landscapes. It prevents wildfires by eliminating decades of growth (fuel). It also fertilizes the ground with mineral rich ash which boosts the re-greening process creating better farming land and even makes for healthier pastures for hunting game.
P.S.- Climate change is natural too and co2 emissions are not a problem
It wasn't fire fighters that were fired, but clean-up crew guys taking pictures with people's burnt up possessions while smiling and laughing. That's fucked up shit.
The southeast side of Chico ended up getting evacuated, but lots of people all over Chico were deciding to book it once flames could be seen from the area where the Sierra Nevada brewery was. The panic was that it was going to reach the city, and then all of Chico PLUS all of the evacuated were going to clog up the highway trying to get out, and another much bigger paradise-like situation would happen. Thankfully the firefighters kept it from getting Chico. VERY thankful for our awesome firefighters.
