The first combine video they showed was harvesting corn. The second was either wheat or soybeans, I just recognized the head and didnt pay attention to the crops. Youve got to cut the stalk in order to quickly get the grain off. The head has an auger that pulls the plant material that has been cut to the center of the machine where a conveyor pulls it all into the machine where the grain is separated from the other materials. The waste is expelled out the back and the grain is retained in the machine to be transferred to either a grain cart (to ferry it out to a truck) ordirectly into a grain truck. Coyotes will also intermingle with combines because they know they are kicking up game (making them take flight). Everything they said is true, ive worked through 3 harvest seasons. Its pretty normal to wipe out small game animals, some of us carried rifles to shoot the coyotes when able. That has everything to do with them being nuisance animals that predate on the fawns, pheasants and very young calves in the area.
