  1. The PBS show Nature has an episode called Radioactive Wolves. It's shows what these guys are speculating on. No, the wolves are not mutated. No, the catfish are not mutated either. Catfish happen to grow their entire lives. If left alone, they get that big. The most amazing thing about it all is the recovery of nature. And all the reassessing (just what are safe levels of radiation, etc.) that science must do to accurately describe this recovery.

  2. Come on Joe, do your research. You might as well be reporting about a sharknado. Radioation causes DNA mutations, as in, cancer. It does not cause DNA mutations, as in, multiple eyes. And if the renewable vegan hippie squad and the nuclear paranoia for ever moms organizations didn't veto literally anything related to nuclear, we'd already have nuclear waste reprocessing and long term storage a while ago.
The world went mad with health and safety, and it's currently hindering everything. The current radiation safety limits are set so absurdly tight. Over the years, statisticians and doctors measured radiation doses and how much they increase a chance to get cancer for those people. The lowest dose that they could ever directly relate to a cancer was then halved and that is our top limit for radiation workers. In other words, even if radiation workers blew through their yearly dose limit and then they doubled it, their chance of getting cancer will still be so low that our scientists literally could barely measure it. These are the guys who claim that they "don't know what to do". The reason why they don't know what to do is that on one hand, they're tasked with cleaning the mess, on the other hand, the "always safety first" crew of non-nuclear-scientists will literally throw them out of their jobs if those guys actually come in contact with this material.

This boogieman mentality is what's causing majority of the harm ofcourse. There's one confirmed death from a cancer caused by radiation in the entire fukushima disaster. There's 1300 deaths as a result of panic, suicides of people who thought they'd die horrible death, pointless evacuation of people in critical condition… because apparently, .1% increase in chance of cancer sometimes in their future lives to all the ICU patients was the priority to be dealth with, as opposed to, you know, the reason why they were in ICU in the first place…. Those patients literally died of evacuation, not radiation.

And then you look at more articles, few months ago, there was a scarecrow article all over the web about scientists measuring 200mBq of radiation per liter of sea water, about 8km from fukushima, and of course, bashed the dirty nuclear again. They forgot to mention that an average banana has 15000mBq of radiation to put that in perspective.

There was a joke on the internet about how to piss off a nuclear power plant managers. You know how? Deliver them a truck load of granite counter tops.

Granite, this kitchen safe material contains very low, but easily measurable traces of uranium. And if the nuclear power plant tried to throw a truck of those granite countertops away, they'd blow through they yearly limits for how much radiation they're allowed to release to the environment. They'd have to treat and dispose them as a nuclear waste.

Please, joe, don't join those people, do your research, look into the deaths of nuclear, coal, oil, solar and wind, look into the environmental impact of those, look into france and germany, don't join the dumb crowd on this.
