First Mad Max…
Mel was as pretty as any man should be….but still manly….
I can say this in public without anonymity, because I’m secure in my masculinity
I don't agree with most of Mel's personal views but he was my favorite actor when I was growing up in the 80s-90s.
1:15 even though Dr. George Miler, Byron Kennedy, Terry Hayes, Mark Sexton, Nico Lathouris and a few others created and wrote for the character, I feel like Mad Max also channeled a lot of Mel's real life dark energy.
Tom Hardy did a good job, but Mel is Max. Hardy had the benefit of a $150 million budget and modern technology. When Mel was Max they were paying real life bikers with cases of beer.
Turning a $200,000 indie 70s exploitation movie into a $100 million return is still a great feat. Something like a 500:1 return on investment that wasn't bested for 20 years until "The Blair Witch Project" in 1999.
Like many in the comments, I think Mel is a better director than an actor. It would be great to see him direct Hardy in a Max film if Miller cannot do it. Max is gritty, and Mel can definitely direct gritty.
I love Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson is the FUCKING greatest guy ever. Every movie where he is is my comfort movie.
I love Mel Gibson. The racism and anti-semitism just makes him even cooler.
