Joe… I love you man, but that actually hurt my feelings when you said Gary Clarke Jr. was the most intriguing guitarist since Hendrix… Even if it was hyperbole, it’s infuriating. I understand everyone has their own taste in music and we’re all entitled to an opinion, but that sacrilegious statement is objectively wrong. Nothing against GCJ, he’s an artist with his own unique sound that writes great songs, absolutely… But on the level of Hendrix, that reimagined the capabilities of the electric guitar, used psychedelics to tap into new dimensions of sound on his instrument and somehow been an influence on everyone ever to start playing? It’s apples and oranges, bro… To put it in a concept you’d understand, it’d be like if I said “Holy shit, you know whose the shit? David Spade. He’s the funniest guy ever, like Richard Pryor funny!” There’s nothing wrong with David Spade, he’s a funny guy… But on the level of a legend like Pryor? Naw. Spade would probably admit that… No he wouldn’t… But ya, whatever. Just had to say something, cause what you said kicked my heart in the balls. And no, I know you’ll NEVER read this, but it’s cool.
