Brian's lovely. Generous, funny and respectful. The fact is that he is vastly more intelligent than 99% of people he meets, but he's still respectful of their minds and doesn't talk down to them. He's a superb educator and can teach quite complex physics to the layman.
Should just have a joe and Brian podcast. I can listen to Brian talk for days on end
This man is exceptionally brilliant. It's great to know there is people out there this smart. It gives me a sense of hope that people in general will keep advancing in everyy aspect.
Oh yes because we have the capabilities to measure and observe other dimensions with aparatus and technology. He essentially is saying 'we don't know what conciousness is, so we don't have a soul'. If the particles were interacting with the soul we wouldn't be able to see it because 1: we do not understand the true nature of conciousness 2: if it was interacring with an unobservable dimension we would obviously not be able to observe it. If we were to now start using his answer ("if we can't measure it, it doesn't exist") as scientific truth then fundamentally science collapses on itself. Example: we have yet to measure the size of the universe so clearly Brian, it doesn't exist. I think in this man's nihalistic way of thinking he's only gone and conciously replaced the wonder in gods and souls into that of humanity and our studies of systems, as it is obviously extremly nieve to assume that humams with a virtually unchanged mind for roughly 40,000 years could achieve perfecr understanding of the universe and it's functions with our minds and ancient limited languages. That seems more ridiculous to believe that to assume that their is proabably more going on than we are capable of understanding. Also in bying doing this he is ignoring evidence or signs in other fields and as well as his own that point towards there being more and I may be wrong with my next following statement; it appears that he has taken up athiesm as his own belief, not because of an understanding.
But this what we believe now, is there a way that this could change dramatically in a few thousand years, and that the universe is somehow able to continue on forever and allow us the live and continue on forever?
