Good discussion but I think your last statement is incorrect Joe. That there is no absolute truth, The scientist next to you would probably disagree. You may be right in that no one has absolute knowledge but that’s what science (and philosophy and maybe even religion)is. The pursuit of that truth. Science has shown over decades that there are absolutes through various discoveries that we don’t live in a lawless universe. The understanding of that truth may be very far away but it does exist. Truth is by nature mutually exclusive therefore someone is always wrong (which is why it’s easier to say, there is no truth) the arrogant thing thing to say is that I have the full knowledge of truth (when no one is even close) and like you point out the truth can be difficult to discern (maybe even undiscerable) but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
