The universe is not flat but what we are able to see of the universe, we perceive that as flat….it is the same as looking at a mile road on earth, we perceive it as flat but we know it is not since earth is not flat.
A 2d slice of a universe is flat only if you measure it inside a 3D universe.
If someone flashed a light in China you wouldn't be able to see it in America because the Earth is (round) not flat but if you can see light 200 million light years away from Earth means the universe is flat….The universe(space) can't have a curvature because it's not a physical object just like the (space) in-between you and your phone doesn't have a curvature…If you and your phone was on opposite sides of the Earth you wouldn't be able to see it with a telescope but if you and your phone magically rise off the Earth into space you will be able to see it with the telescope
Very unhelpful answers from cox. Space is flat, meaning it’s not curved overall by gravitational and other forces, but the universe, from our perspective is ‘round’ in that it expands in all directions.
