LMAO that almost happened in my first amateur mma fight. I joined a boxing gym and was striking for the 1st time, 4 months in I was sparring mexican amateurs and tko'ing all the guys who'd been boxing the same length of time as me. I was talking with the the owner/coach who's also a BJJ black belt and used to own an MMA gym and I mention how I was a provincial champion in Judo back in Canada so he randomly asks me "want to do an MMA match in 3 months?" It was hella weird cuz I'm at a boxing gym training only boxing 5 days a week preparing for an MMA match lol… Hadn't practiced Judo or BJJ in years. Come fight week he keeps telling me you're gonna KO this guy and everytime I throw something nice on the mitts he's like "yea that's the punch that's gonna win the fight". Long story short come time to fight I was so nervous I just dove for the guys leg and straight ankle locked him within 30 seconds or something and afterwards my coach was like "Yo there's a grappling tournament coming up"
