It is interesting to say that the actual grey wolf that we know today actually originated in Asia, but it’s ancestor was Tomarctus which was the descendants species of Hesperocyon which, in truth was the first real canid. However Hesperocyon’s ancestor was Miacis the ancestor of not just wolves, but also bears and weasels, and that creature was also found in North America, but also Europe. So truth to say, one species came in one area is very difficult to pinpoint considering species and animals often navigate the globes dozens of times, crossing continents, multiple generations and species.
    But yes, it is interesting to find out the first canine ancestor happened to evolve when they were in North America and Canada.
