You need the intact sperm/rna zygote to implant into a viable animal. I don’t know if an elephant can carry a mammoth baby, but either way you need the extinct animal’s female eggs also. It will be a test tube baby anyhow unless we make advances toward dna replication, as crispr can’t do it.
