I went to a conservative private Christian school here in America and it was completely normal to have a pocket knife even in 2016
I was carrying full size knife to school in my hometown Kherson, Ukraine. I was cutting food for me and friends. Also it was useful for couple of my teachers. I was cutting roots and leaves in biological classes as my teacher asked and etc. It's just like USA have bad history of school shootings that makes them so paranoid, but mostly out of US it's nothing happened similar. Like, i remember only one school shooting in Ukraine, and it was done with crossbow by some young feminist girl who was offended by her teacher or some shit like that. It's cultural differences, but cause of US there is lot of paranoid ppl in world who are fully against guns. It's kinda lame

I hated this crap when I was in school, I had been carrying a pocket knife since I was young and had to remember to pull it out of my pocket before school. It bugged me so much that I got a cheap multitool and replaced the knife with a washer so if some idiot teacher tried to punish me for it they would have to argue that a small saw on a multitool is a bladed weapon lol.
If a kid brings a knife to school to cut an apple it’s going to be ok. If a kid goes to school with a knife to hurt someone he’s going to do it whether it’s allowed or not.
