Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me! Do you remember reciting those words on the playground when the class bully would would launch his/her verbal assault at you? Repeating this expression gave you that temporary shield of confidence, yet deep down inside you know it actually affected you. Even today as adults, spoken words; and likewise letters on a screen have the same power they once held long ago. Little did you know, the scriptures actually teach this truth, yet tucked away in a book that is not widely known or read.

Very much in agreement that gossip and slander are unacceptable and against Torah. That said, in more of a general sense, the "sticks and stones" saying is basically true. The political Left in this country (yes, I'm going there) likes to say that "words are violence". They do this to try and limit free speech, to shut down debate/dialog, to silence their opponents because they hate truth. Truth can often be harsh, but people need to hear it. Of course words are not violence, and many people on the Left need to develop a thicker skin if truth sounds harsh to their fragile sensibilities.
We have gotten to the place where we are in this country, because not enough good people are standing up to evil because they are afraid to hurt people's feelings. Which brings us back to the "sticks and stones" saying. Avoid slander and gossip, but speak directly, gently and eloquently, and don't be afraid to speak harsh truths in the face of evil/sin.
Good video, though I thought the aforementioned distinctions/nuances could have been made in it.
