I work in natural resources; I began my education with very little knowledge of computers with plans to "work in the woods." I now own my own (successful) consulting company, and I work in the woods, but I had to learn how to use GIS, I chose to go through FreeCodeCamp, and realized that to be successful I needed to learn some Python, HTML and CSS to streamline many tasks which are now done digitally. I recommend anyone in related industries learns to code. Now: The suggestions "learn to code" was absolutely used as an intentionally dismissive kick at coal miners who had lost their jobs as the result of democrat policies. It was not a proposal to provide any assistance to these people. Joe Biden has used this again very recently; now show me where the Democrats have ever scoffed at assisting the inner city poor and simply told them to "learn to code" as the solution. It is a pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps statement to people who learned a trade and had it taken from them.
