His story is what UBI could help. It could be a safety net and not a way to pay their entire bills.
He (Joe) got it wrong in the first 30 seconds lol: "I think the idea is that everyone would get it, even wealthy people."
NO haha. UBI just means everyone starts the month above the poverty level, which is like $12,880/year. It's not a lot of money at all, and very few people would qualify. You'd have to be making less than $247/week to even qualify.
So the idea that people would just "stop working for the free money" is ludicrous because it's still barely surviving.
Basic fact: definition of Baseline – a starting point. Today baseline = $0 (average salary of non worker). Milk costs $3. After UBI, baseline = $1000. Milk costs $1003.
You need to be able to adapt. You have to be flexible enough to try a new job if your old one ceases to exist. This also includes being brave enough to move to where other work is.
I have a theory that if automation takes over that communism can be implemented.
