  1. The fact is, we will come to a point where economics is invalid. It will be viewed as an ancient societal method of socialization and lifestyle the same as we view slavery. In fact, it will probably be viewed with much the same disdain and disgust as we view slavery. This is because technology, once developed to the point of AI that is self-replicating and problem-solving, will do all of our labor for us, requiring no money or exchange of goods.

Robots and drones will grow and ship and cook our food. They will be our factories and maintain themselves. We will have no need for humans to "labor" in exchange for maintaining our own existence.

Anything we labor for will be because we want to. Be it art, music, writing, or just engaging in play with our friends and family.

That is, in essence, the totality of heaven or paradise in every culture and religion. For some reason, we all seem to desire it in the afterlife, but look upon the idea of it happening today with disdain. We view it as lazy, entitled, and weak.

But is it? By that logic, we are all lazy, entitled, and weak compared to natives who lived off the land as hunter gatherers.

  2. I feel like Tim kind of just assumes the worst in this aspect. If I had UBI I would continue to work. I would just have that extra money every month to make my rent, car note, whatever. It’s not enough for me to just not work and be lazy, but it definitely would help and I wouldn’t have to worry about rent or my car payment. Then I would have more money for me to do what I like out of my paycheck and to save. I’m more able to go out and buy things from small business because I’m not penny pinching worrying about my bills.
