Why would I work and flip burgers for $10 an hour when I make so much on UBI? Easy, people inherently want more stuff then just survival. Basic income is just that, for your absolute basic living. You aren't going to buy that sick skateboard, or that Playstation, or eat out, or buy that car, or rent that cottage for a summer, or get that new phone on basic income, and more importantly I have leverage now over the employer where I can say to MacDonald's "I don't need this job to survive, I need it because I want stuff. Treat me right."
