I've never understood how a human being, much less a fully grown man, can freeze-frame their style and attire from adolescence and carry it all the way into adulthood. Pauly seems like a decent enough guy, but to be so trapped in the past, and so desperate for the kind of fame and attention he once had, is incredibly strange.
There's never a time when I feel less joyful than when I'm surrounded by people from my past who only went to tell stories from their heyday, and there's never a time when I feel more joyful than when I'm having a meaningfully evolved conversation with someone who lives entirely in the present.
I don't say this to preach or even to judge Pauly. I just wish he could see more in himself than what he was, because those days are never coming back around again. It's beautiful, though, really, that they aren't returning. That's life offering you something new to free you from the prison of your ignorance. You get the opportunity to evolve and discover yourself in full, along with the universe to which you belong. That process is truly what life is all about, so it's sad listening to someone in their early 50s lamenting that the life they have now isn't exactly what it used to be. You couldn't pay me enough money to go back.
