While the Pope/Papacy is not the Antichrist nor beast of Revelation, the church at Rome became powerful and evolved into the Vatican, headed by the Pope. The Vatican during the inquisition persecuted and killed Christians who did not want to be under its authority.
During the forthcoming 7 years of Daniel 9:27, in the second part of it after the Antichrist has become the beast-king, the ten EU kings aligning themselves with the beast-king will be of one accord and with burn the Vatican to the ground – Revelation 17:16.

This day is not for Jacob, for he shall be delivered out of it. Jacob troubles are the TIMES given to the gentiles or the nations, these TIMES of the gentiles are the time of Jacob tribulations or troubles. The great tribulation is the judgment of the nations who salvation was sent to. SALVATION IS OF THE JEWS, THE JEWS ARE GENTILES, SALVATION WAS SENT TO THE GENTILES.
