In a southeastern state The MAJOR problem with this program is Privacy! Everyone in a doctor's office has access to this data. The physician offices in have access to ALL meds to a patient. The issue comes in when everyone in the doctors office can see this information to the front desk clerk. Therefore there are nosy and talkative untrained medical personnel that include clerks at the front desk that have access to a patients entire chart. This data is being passed from one person to another. Especially noticeable in small towns where this information IS passed to others in an environment where all know each other.. Folks don't keep their mouth shut – even medical personnel. Anyone that can not prescribe medicine should not have access -PERIOD! Then in hospital environment the access is not monitored when a patients data is retrieved for a patient in which the employee has no handling in that patient but just being nosy and the employee is not terminated but reprimanded. Patients' privacy is NOT taking seriously. Remember if the patient record can be seen SO can the nurses and the physicians and politicians and their families can also be accessed AND THEY may not want others to see their data. When nonprofits are hired as a 3rd party to assist with monitoring programs or patient data access programs for govt agencies to assist in other govt benefits, personnel are uneducated nonmedical personnel that do not understand sensitivity to Hipaa and privacy rules and do not adhere to these rules. The larger the group that have access the larger the possibility of privacy data being shared with others. This will stop when a politician or an elite family member's data has been accessed andor shared with others. Usually folks don't see this has an issue until it happens to them.
When I turn on my VPN, Google makes me do one of those "which of these squares has a traffic light in them" games for every search. EVERY SEARCH.
