Wow, Bret really sounds like Smithers from the Simpsons.
Making all these investments into poor neighborhoods sounds great and one cannot argue much against it, but it is not as simple as just throw money at it because that has been done over and over again and we are no better off today with that approach.
Way to hold your own, Joe in discussing religion with Bret – your logic and evidence far exceeded his… and I have great respect for Bret- I'm somewhat surprised at what felt like an uncharacteristic suspension of 'consider the evidence' on his part. Either way – this discussion was an exceptional role model for all of us…on what respectful disagreement in conversation looks like. We'd all be better off if each of us took note!
The fact that someone as open minded as Bret had no interaction with Black conservatives, is scary, and hopeful because the people who looked upto him have got access to his changed worldview too!
