It’s like how people think USA is a country where everyone’s walking around with guns- no.
As someone who has lived in Mexico but mostly in the US with family from both: the atrocities in Mexico haven’t affected anyone I know, yet someone in family babysat two of the kid victims from the Sandy hook shooting. They don’t have school shootings in Mexico. That’s insanity. Both sides have crazy stuff, but because the crazy stuff is sooo extreme in Mexico it makes people think they’d never want to go there which is sad because it’s a cheap quick flight from USA.
It’s just the reputation because the crazy stuff stands out more in peoples eyes.
Yes the politicians, cops, and cartels are wild but when was the last time you even called a cop?? I’ve never met a cartel member or politician.
What about USA hospitals and Universities that give people life debt- aren’t they supposed to be on your side- well they don’t do that stuff in Mexico. Corruption is on both sides in different ways.
