A child's pressure to succeed at something they aren't suitably inclined to do. That's how kids get messed up. A parent who demands success in something a child doesn't have talent for.
And then the subsequent abuse from those parents when a child finds their lane. Even more toxic than the participation ribbon is the parents who drove kids to yearn for it. To find gratification symbolized by a small piece of cloth that their parents never provided.
