They say "Nazis scientists" but most of the German scientists were not party-members. "Nazi" is being used as a synonym for German.
It is easy to exaggerate the importance of the party-membership of the few who actually had it. Werner von Braun seems to have joined the NSDAP only for career reasons anyway. In the USA he became a Kennedy liberal.
It is very common also to exaggerate the positions that they held in the USA. You see this in the movie Dr. Strangelove, where the title character was a satire of Werner von Braun that has him participating in the president's most important decisions. Often Braun is said to have been "Head of NASA" when in reality he was only the director of the Marshall Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, where the other Germans worked.
