I loved this podcast! My dad and uncle – my dad's older bro." were both members of the Brigade 2506. But back in Cuba my uncle owned a little cafe and on the side he was a " bolitero." My dad, when he was young, worked with his older brother taking numbers. I wish I would have recorded all my dad's stories about his life in Cuba and his and my uncle's experiences – especially what they went through during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. Funny thing is that their oldest brother Miguelito stayed in Cuba and became a high ranking official in Fidel's dystopian society – not that ours is presently a model for an utopia. He was though, according to all who knew him, a very decent individual. He visited my dad and uncle while they were in El Principe – the prison, in Cuba, in which held the Brigade . Both my father and uncle advised him not to visit anymore lest he be targeted by the Cuban authorities but my uncle Miguelito was unconcerned. Family first, was his motto.
I loved Joey's opinion on politics! I'll say no more since his "crude" statement says it all! We're too politically correct now-a-days but I translate that, aforementioned statement, into: we're too mind-fucked, indoctrinated and " maricones" to express what is right there in front of you goddamn face!
May you all have the best life possible.
