It is still a war between evil and good ( Satanic forces and the heavenly) . Are the weapons words or swords? Satan helps kill his enemies every day: example Jesus. He goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he will devour. First Peter 5:8. The same as the Holy Spirit he whispers suggestions, but his are wicked and he can do what the Holy cannot ,lie, trick, and deceive. God gave us a good weapon to use : His own sword, His words to us : both written and in the person of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 4:12. Our mouths when used appropriately are our defense: Isaiah 49, we grow as we drink from His words and even if his enemy, Satan, swallows us up we will be delivered . Isaiah 49:22-26.
