Unfortunately, there's no way to "proportionalise" the problem. It could be tomorrow or it might not be for 3000 years.
I fail to see how stressing a catastrophic meteor ending all life as we know it differs from getting worked up over the fact that one is going to die someday eventually, anyway. Unless you've got some solution the rest of us don't know about you may as well have another drink and relax, the way you've always done, right?
I don't worry about an asteroid wiping us out. I worry more about them letting us know before hand and watching society collapse in seconds because it won't matter. Would rather be oblivious and get snuffed out than the world devolve and the worst of people give in to their base urges. The streets would run red with blood before the asteroid delivered peace.
