I grew up in the country & a friend who lived close by would always go pond hopping & he would catch water moccasins the size of your wrist by the neck & come walking down my street with it. You should talk about on your podcast some of the crazy facts about snakes & rattlers. Snakes do not have eye lids, they never blink like all other species of anything on earth, & you can take a rattle snake & cut it's head off, and that's when it's most dangerous, the eyes still stay open, and it can still leap & bite you, look it up! The way to kill snakes is whip them like a towel (look that up too) it breaks their neck instantly & they truly die immediately vs chopping their heads off.
Snakes are alot like insurance companies. They're both gross animals but we definitely need them.
The fact that antivenom is thousands of dollars is insane! In Australia it is covered by our Medicare for humans, but for our pets it's about $800ea vile of antivenom which is expensive enough
Are they or are they not evolving to not have the rattle do to over poaching
Pound for pound animals like Rats, Squirrels, Rabbits etc, are absolutely menacing.
