The statement, "America has been nation with slavery longer than it has been a nation without…" isn't accurate. The United States of America became an independent country on July 4, 1776, slavery was abolished in 1865. The use of the name "America", was in reference to the continent, not a single nation.
The Emancipation Proclamation went into effect January 1, 1863. 😉

The killing of John Brown was the started the civil war
But the British came up on slavery for 200 years just 25 years less then america
