Fair play to Brian knowing about the Brittish role in ending slavery. Cost a fortune too. There's some really in depth videos on YouTube about it. Some are propaganda but there are some really good ones
The us was not a country with slaves longer than one without… where the fuck did that shit come from the us was a country for 82 years before the abolition of slavery, at the time this video was recorded slavery had been abolished for 154years…
The full truth of abolishing slavery is much more complex than English evangelicals and Quakers advocating abolishment of slavery
In ancient Persia slavery was outlawed due to Zoroastrianism
The secular Jacobin club of French revolution also abolished slavery and also expanded citizenship to former slaves before Napoleon reversed it
Not to mention the role African freeman and enslaved Christians who argued for thier freedoms before other Christians
But this doesn't tarnish anti slavery Christian movements who formed a very important ideology to combat slave trade
160 ish years since the abolition of slavery in America. In rogan terms, one and half maybe two people ago 🤯
It's one thing to oppress another man as in Islam and the sex slave trade where the lifespan averages seven years.
But Biblical slavery dealt with those among the children of Israel whose poverty in life's circumstances forced them to sell themselves for six years as a slave to provide for himself and his family. And at the seventh year the Bible commanded his freedom. And as a freeman if he wanted to serve his master forever he would take an awl to his ear showing his lifelong dedication to the decent, compassionate man who looked after him. (Read Exodus, ch.21)
