there's countless examples of things we do today that people of the future will be like "wow wtf" and religion accounts for a huge bit of it. Some people still actually believe all these mythical religious stories are true, like noah's ark or the jesus coming back from the dead. And the countless other bizarre beliefs people have around the world and right next door. A dude in Atlanta just killed a bunch of asian spa sex workers because he thought they were so hot and he loved having sex with them, but he thought he was sinning according to his religion and thought of them as tempting him, so they had to die and he shot em all up. Like wow, wtf.
