I boxed for decades as an amateur -never turned pro. I actually won an amateur national title.
I got to spar a few pro fighters and it wasn’t even close. Jermain Taylor (world middleweight champ) was one of them. They were so much better. I work out now in a jujitsu gym and I’m extra nice to those guys. They are also polite and humble but I would never ever mess with them. All I do is stand up with a few of them. I would seriously back down if they wanted to fight me.
lol he really compared fighting to stand up comedy. Literally anyone could go into an open mic amateur night with a decent enough bit and charisma and they'll get laughs
crazy thing is the gap between a pro fighter and a regular athlete is actually much smaller than the gap between a division 3 basketball player and an NBA role player.
From the military, and just being brought up in the south, fighting, wrestling, rough housing, and being 5’9 245, body building, weights my whole life, I considered myself to be pretty tough also..
My bro- in- law is a black belt in Krav- magaw
And took me to a gym to roll with some guys
This purple belt, preacher got on me, and me outweighing him by at least 20lbs, I couldn’t get shake him
The biggest gap i know of is the one a dick causes your ass to have when it enters the ring
