It's not a feminine impulse, it's a human impulse. The difference is in how males and females and socialised as well as emotional expectations from men and women. Men are expected to be less emotional and are socialised to be problem solvers. Women are expected to be more emotional and so when react emotionally to a situation, it's expected and accepted.
