  1. [EDIT: Haidt sort of makes this point at 1:58:44 – ish n- would be good to apply to kids]

Question – how about the social media companies do a serious vetting process, not allowing anyone 15 or under (for example) to have an account? Make stricter application guidelines.

If you apply for a Paypal account, or want to be a customer on Air BnB or Booking dot com – there are security checks so you can't hide behind a fake identity. It's not easy to establish these online accounts. You often have to upload passport photos, drivers license, etc.

It's very problematic that it's so easy to make an account (or fake acct) on FB, Google, Twitter, etc so easily. Especially with kids. Make it harder for kids to make the account. Require a social security # and picture id on file, and permission from parents & schools who are also on file.

Handing social media accounts to kids is like letting kids play with guns – just see the suicide rates mentioned in this video!

  2. "How are we going to reach those kids if professors are so terrified?" (21:00) – Reinstate mandatory military service. Push all kids through some good old fashion basic training with drill instructors screaming their heads off.
