  1. You know what's really amazing is around 1:45:00 they are talking about schooling and how HW may not be useful until later and schools aren't seen as fun and exciting places learning by practice instead by theory. Also how we desire kids with strong math function so we try to teach them earlier but it hasn't been shown to work. It makes me think of Japan and how they don't even have academic classes when they are young instead they allow them to play and teach them to clean the room as well as being part of clubs. The cleaning aspect gives them responsibility, teaches them to work together, and is practical. Clubs makes them excited for school and gives them a personal thing they attribute to as choice at school, not to mention all the social interaction and competition to be better at non academic tasks. I can't speak on HW but Japan is kicking the US's ass in math and start learning later. Not to mention that they are allowed to leave during lunch to explore and buy food. All this is dependent on school and area of course, but also Finland's schooling is widely considered the best in the world but has no HW and alot of classes are shorter.
