One hour in and thinking of ditching it. So far they're not really talking about anything of substance. E.g. on afterlife, taking Christopher Hitchens idea of a party and then 'debunking' the idea because you wouldn't want t stay at a party, or because Sherman considers that your injuries 'are part of YOU'🤣. Its so stupid, as though they were seriously even looking into the subject, which could be fascinating if you bring in ancient beliefs, modern day near death experience on e.g. the operating table, the Tibetan concept of the bardos, Indians burying themselves for weeks on end, the resurection, the idea of rebirth and Karma, Dante's inferno, use of fear by the church, purgetory, the tendency to project the fear of death onto this life and feel that the end of the world is nigh, when really its existential crisis and fear of mortality buried and projected, beliefs of other cultures, e.g. those that celebrate death, and so on. Not to say it could ever be decided, nobody can ever make that ruling, and indeed, maybe it isn't the same for everybody, who know, but the skeptic has a habit of keeping ideas dulled down so he can laugh at them and shoot them down.. That could have been an interesting conversation, but he refuses to deep on any subject. This session is not going anywhere. Here Shermer says he's a 'social scientist' so it makes me wonder how come he thinks he's qualified to shoot down ideas by Robert Schoch about geology. I kinda find him a waste of time, as a believer or as a skeptic, just as a person who can invest three hours to hear a bunch of facile jokes propping him up without any substance. Perhaps I am being too hard, but one hour in and all I got so far Jeff Bezos divorce! Bor-ring!
